Compliant Going Global | Zhejiang Fiafu Electronic Packaging Successfully Passes EU PPWR Testing, Consolidating Green Supply Chain Competitiveness in the European Market
Recently, Zhejiang Fiafu Electronics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Fiafu Electronics") has successfully completed third-party testing for packaging materials in accordance with the EU PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations) and obtained an official testing report. This compliance certification marks the complete set of packaging materials used by our company for export products such as insulators and new energy insulation columns. The hazardous substance indicators and environmental performance all comply with the latest mandatory requirements of the EU packaging regulations, laying a solid foundation for the stable supply of our products to European power grids, energy storage, rail transit, and new energy vehicle customers.
With the full implementation of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR (EU) 2025/40) on August 12, 2026, all goods imported into the EU market must meet new environmental control standards for packaging. Non compliant packaging will face significant risks such as customs seizure, high fines, and order returns, and has become a compliance threshold that domestic manufacturing enterprises must cross when exporting to Europe.
As a manufacturing enterprise specializing in automotive grade insulators, charging piles, energy storage, photovoltaics, and rail transit insulation components, Fiafu Electronics attaches great importance to the EU's new green trade regulations and has proactively laid out packaging compliance upgrades. This inspection covers the complete set of export packaging used by the company for exporting EU products, including cardboard boxes, cushioning liners, packaging accessories, labels, etc. After testing by an authoritative third-party laboratory, the total content of four heavy metals including lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium in the packaging, as well as the screening of restricted harmful substances, have all exceeded the PPWR regulatory limits, meeting the environmental control requirements of the European Union for industrial component packaging. In the future, our company can use the PPWR testing report and Declaration of Conformity (DoC) as export technical files for European customers such as ABB and Siemens to review and clear customs for future reference.
Fiafu Electronics has always adhered to the ESG sustainable development concept throughout the entire process of raw material procurement, product production, quality testing, packaging and delivery. The successful acquisition of the PPWR testing report this time is not only an important achievement of the company's proactive response to EU green trade barriers and implementation of supply chain carbon reduction and environmental management; It is also a powerful proof for Fiafu to showcase its responsible supplier image to overseas European customers and reduce their supply chain compliance risks.
Next, Fiafu Electronics will continue to optimize packaging reduction and recyclable design, establish a compliance ledger for packaging materials, regularly review the environmental qualifications of packaging suppliers, and continuously follow up on PPWR's subsequent compliance requirements such as the proportion of recycled materials and recyclability assessments. With a high standard green packaging compliance system, we assist the company's insulator series products in steadily expanding into the European new energy, transmission, and distribution markets, providing overseas customers with reliable and green compliant one-stop component delivery solutions.
What is PPWR? The full name of PPWR is "Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation", EU Regulation (EU) 2025/40, which is the latest packaging and packaging waste regulation in the European Union. It will replace the old Packaging Directive 94/62/EC that has been in use for nearly 30 years. It will come into force from August 12, 2026, and all product packaging sold to the 27 EU countries must comply with this regulation. Core control points:
1. Hazardous substance control: The total content of four heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium) in packaging is ≤ 100mg/kg; Strictly limit PFAS perfluorinated substances in food contact packaging; At the same time, it is necessary to meet the REACH requirements for the control of substances of high concern.
2. Packaging reduction: The packaging volume and weight must not exceed the minimum required to protect the product, and excessive packaging is strictly prohibited.
3. Recyclability and Regeneration Content Target: Gradually improve the recyclability of various packaging types and the proportion of recycled materials used.
4. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): Exporters are required to complete packaging EPR registration in the target countries of the European Union.
5. Document requirements: Enterprises need to retain packaging inspection reports, technical files, and issue a Declaration of Conformity (DoC). Customs and customers have the right to conduct spot checks and verifications at any time.
